The very well-traveled Kimberly Hoffard…has done much to promote the galleries of other Zazzle shop owners. Kimberly’s interest in art came naturally enough. Her parents were landscape artists. She attended Grant High School in Portland, Oregon, renowned for its arts department, graduating in 1985. If GHS sounds familiar to you, it may be because Glenn Holland, the subject of the movie, “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” taught there.

Following graduation, Kimberly attended Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City for a time before moving to New York’s Long Island to work as a nanny. As it turned out. the family she worked for owned a design studio which specialized in doing parties and props for stage productions. In short order, Kimberly had become their Art Director, working with high students while continuing to serve as the family’s nanny.

Not one to let the grass grow beneath her feet, Kimberly moved to San Francisco in 1993, where she studied art at Daly City Community College. While in SF, she became heavily involved in the “Rave community,” turning out flyers to promote various events, and would often dance all through the night with friends. It was during this period that “The Insomniac”…a very distinctive fellow, indeed…was born.. More about him shortly. From San Francisco, Kim travelled to New Orleans where she sold her art on Royal Street, one of the city's oldest byways, well-known for its antique shops, its art galleries, and its stately hotels, and where she found jobs doing album covers… and even did a stint as a tattoo artist!

Currently living in Missoula, Montana, Kimberly has been a Zazzle shopowner for two years. In April of this year, the ever restless Kim decided that Zazzle needed a little excitement; something that would draw members together and draw eyes to their respective galleries. Partly because so many Zazzlers have day jobs and work on their shops at night…and partly because The Insomniac was so popular in his own right, adorning several products in Kim’s own personal shop (Hoffard's Gallery), she decided that he would be the focus of the new community she would create on Zazzle. It didn’t take long before other Zazzlers were "signing up" to join The Insomniac, displaying links to "his" gallery in their galleries, and having their links prominently displayed on The Insomniac’s opening page.

Kim is constantly refining the Insomniac's gallery which has become a hub of activity and a regular meeting place for other shop owners to exchange information or just to socialize. Members’ products are regularly spotlighted not only on the pages of The Insomniac, but also on Kim’s MySpace page…resulting in greatly increased traffic to their galleries. I heartily recommend a tour of The Insomniac's gallery as well as Kimberly's own personal gallery.
